BC Sturgeon Trip a Success

Our trip out to Chilliwack BC to fish with Great River Fishing Adventures for white sturgeon was a success in spite of tough river conditions. Almost all of us caught sturgeon with the largest being around 6 ft.

¬†We fished up in the canyon day one, a stretch I have never fished. Heck if you don’t catch a fish the scenery is incredible. Our boat did not get a lot of bites but what we did get we made count with three nice fish coming in. Our other boat had the hits it was setting the hook and keeping them on that was a challenge for them. They sure had fun trying though.

Day two saw us on the middle stretch with water conditions even higher then the day before and lots of junk coming down. It did take a while but we did start to catch fish under the great guiding of Dean Werk, owner of Great River. Our other boat landed their first fish and you could hear the cheers of excitement go up. We were glad for them as well as they sure gave it their all. We boated a few decent fish as well that day and we all went back to the hotel with smiles on our faces.

Staying the extra night was much better this year and gave us all time to unwind after a cool day of fishing. The hot tub sure felt good and took the chill out and soothed sore muscles from working these incredible fish in.

The biggest fish on the trip, check out that background as well.

Anyway we will be heading back out next spring so if you are interested start saving now for that chance of a lifetime.

We have also started our season here in Alberta and did our first river trip on Sat. The river was muddy but we did boat over 20 fish with lots lost including a sturgeon that we had on for 45 minutes and covered 1 1/2 miles of river. The guests loved it.

Well I hope to see you all this summer or fall, get out there and enjoy it. Remember to keep your hook in the water!!
